Synopsis
Tarapur Nuclear Power Project is India’s first civil nuclear establishment came in existance around 50 years ago, displacing few villages near town named Tarapur. Once a protagonist visits those villages Dandi, Pofaran, Ghivali, Unbhat and Tarapur after 40 long years. He observes the situation of thousands of displaced people. He finds that they lost their traditional jobs and they did not get any new jobs, they lost their lands, homes and sea and they didn’t get proper compensation neither they got the promised services and infrastructures…
About the Filmmaker
Dr. Pradeep Indulkar had been a nuclear engineer for 12 years at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
After realizing his declined health condition, he leftt the nuclear industry, and shifted to work as an environmental educator. He supports people’s movement against Kudankulam and Jaitapur. He now devotes his works to communicate with the people in anti-nukes struggle, and had won Yellow Oscar Award in 2013 Internaitonal Uranium Film Festival in Rio de Jainero with High Power. He is now working on his next film on GMO issues.
I introduce myself as a nuclear activist and a film maker from India. Recently my film High Power, which was based on the sufferings of people around first nuclear power plant of India – Tarapur Atomic Power Station received Yellow Oscar Award in International Uranium Film Festival at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Then I had a tour of Europe especially France and Germany and then USA. In these countries High Power was screened in several places as a part of anti nuclear campaign. The detail report of these tours are attached with this mail. As I work with the people who are fighting against the biggest nuclear power plant in world (10,000 Mw) at Jaitapur on the west coast of India, these tours also proved a good platform to spread the information about anti nuclear struggle in India. Now I am planning a tour to Japan. The film is already dubbed in English and will have Japanese subtitles. Hence I request you to arrange few screenings in Japan. Please note that this is a social activity and no commercials are attached with this tour and screenings.
Thanking you,
Pradeep Indulkar

This tour is organized by Dr. Indulkar and organizers in Japan, and we would like to be able to pay for the trip, supporting his next movie, as well as for the train fee and food for the translators if they need to travel to your place (Dr. Indulkar speaks English, and if you could provide English speakers, that would be super helpful!!) We ask for 1,000+ yen for a person or donation to make about 15,000 yen per a screening. Dr. Indulkar also wants to sell merchandise such as shirts and DVDs at the screening.
Stop Jaitapur, No More Fukushima: A Banner Action
Dr. Indulkar hopes this tour in Japan to be an awareness building to connect people who do not want the second Fukushima. He brought a banner “Stop Jaitapur: No More Fukushima” to his US and Europe tour. After each screening, audience will add their massages to the banners. These banners will be brought to the villages near Jaitapur nuclear power plant. Please give us some moments to promote this action after screening.
Network Glocally
Dr. Indulkar is interested in meeting with local organizers and people who struggle in anti-nukes issues. Please invite him to local actions and organizers’ meetings. Since he is also interested in making his next film on GMO, he would like to be informed on:
1. Interesting winning stories about non-GMO manufacturers
2. Protest against GMO
3. Victims of GMO (GMO users like farmers, end users etc.)
4. Live issues of GMO like protest, legal actions etc.
5. Scientific experts, even pro GMO
